USING UBER or LYFT

Services like Uber and Lyft are convenient, inexpensive and safe taxi services. Hire a private driver to pick you up & take you to your destination with the tap of a button on any smartphone device -which also tracks your driver. A nearby driver often arrives to pick you up within minutes.

Here are some tips and safety measures to consider:

BE READY and PREPARED

Make sure you are ready to go.

Make it easy for your driver to find you. If you are not comfortable with a “home” pickup, find another location on your street.

Send your destination address from your Uber or Lyft app. This helps determine an accurate fare and ETA.

BE SMART and STAY SAFE

Check the name and license plate BEFORE you get in. An Uber/Lyft sign may not always be visible.

Always check the license plate and make/model of the vehicle before you get in.

Also, let the driver greet you by YOUR name first. This way you’re certain it is your ride, and you’re not jumping into a strangers’ car.

BE NICE :)

Remember to be nice. Drivers AND Passengers are rated!

If you can, leave a small tip — especially if the driver is friendly, helpful, and a good driver.

Don’t eat, drink or smoke while riding. Drivers own their vehicles, take good care of them and keep them clean.

Let the driver do the navigation - none of us like backseat drivers :)

Rate the driver.

NEVER use UBER or LYFT drivers soliciting at airports or events.
Only use drivers that have been arranged through the app.
